Joan Carboon

Born in Swan Hill on February 3rd, 1927, daughter of Elizabeth and Thomas Neill. (Both Dec),
Beloved wife of Laurie (dec),
Cherished and much loved mother of Anne, Neil and Isla, loved mother-in-law of Andrew, Kerri and Tom.
Treasured grandmother of Alison, Alex, Willian, Hannah and Olivia and great grand-children Jarrah and Florence.

During WWII Joan served with the Women’s Royal Australian Navy and later worked in clothing industry until her retirement at age 70. Joan, ever curious travelled widely and made friends easily right up until the last weeks of her life. Her family inherited her love of gardening and proclivity to adopt stray animals.

Joan passed away at Cabrini Hospital on Friday 18 April 2025, only hours after a huge win by her beloved Carlton Blues played on the TV in her room.

Family and friends are invited to attend Joan’s funeral service on Thursday 1st May, 2025 at 11am at
St Scholastica’s Catholic Church, 348 Burwood Highway, Bennettswood (parking available, entry from Starling Street). The service will be followed by refreshments in the Church’s Gathering Space.
