End-of-Life Coach (EOLC), Funeral advocate/arranger and Funeral Celebrant

Greetings, I’m Iain McKinnon, an End-of-Life Coach (EOLC), a funeral advocate/arranger and a funeral celebrant.

As an EOLC I accompany my clients and those that matter to them on their end-of-life journey, enabling them to be fully informed, emotionally supported and always listened to. These are offerings that I extend in my role as a funeral advocate and arranger.

I believe that death is a collective experience, and that a well-planned funeral not only acknowledges the reality of the death, but it also considers the feelings and needs of family and loved ones. I can help you understand your rights and options and guide you through the various decisions that need to be made. My aim is to assist you to create the funeral you feel will best reflect and celebrate your loved one’s life and honour their legacy whilst sensitively acknowledging the reality of their death.

At the time of contacting a funeral arranger, people are likely to be at their most vulnerable and easily taken advantage of. I will partner with you in a transparent and authentic way, with your best interests as my main priority.

I am experienced supporting people from the LGBTQIA+ community. That is my community, and I understand that many people in it, myself included, have had bad experiences accessing mainstream services over their life. They may have been left feeling marginalised, and struggled to have service providers understand that families can be birth or chosen or both, and why that’s important.

As a trained humanist funeral celebrant, I can also support you with that aspect of the service, if required. This minimises the number of people you need to engage with, provides continuity, and when conducted with grace, empathy, and compassion, assists the grieving process of loved ones and other mourners.
